Child Protection Officer (NO-B), based in Yangon
Position No. 68495
UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed professional to support the project design, planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting, and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building. Ensure close support to the Government of Myanmar in strengthening child care and child protection systems, develop and manage the child protection database, and support the child protection section in its work on child protection in emergencies. Under the supervision of the Chief, Child Protection, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide effective and flexible support to the Chief of Child Protection and the heads of sub-sections on child care and protection, and children affected by armed conflict and emergencies, to ensure prioritized areas of support around child care and protection and child protection in emergencies, are delivered;
- Accurate, complete and up-to-date information made available for effective budget preparation, programme and project design, implementation, management and evaluation, including through management of Child Protection database;
- Close technical support – including on-the-job support - provided to key Government counterparts to build capacity and knowledge and progress the child protection agenda, including the collection and analysis of child protection data;
- Assist in child protection emergency programmes, including training on child protection in emergencies, emergency assessments, and technical support to implementing partners;
- Progress reports and project work plans timely prepared, and effective technical assistance provided: in sharing the relevant information with concerned partners, in the identification of required supplies and equipment, and in the drafting of Country Programme
- Recommendation and other project documentation;
- Appropriateness and completeness of financial and supply documentation as well as adherence to established allotments ensured;
- Knowledge sharing with donors, media and with all strategic partners effectively promoted.
- Gender and sex aggregated data and inputs relevant to Child Protection programme provided;
- Effective communication and networking achieved through partnership and collaboration; and coordination among child protection system actors strengthened.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES required to perform the duties of the post:
- Education University degree in Social Sciences, Law or Child Development
- Work Experience - Two years of relevant professional work experience;
- Field work experience. International experience is a strong asset;
- Background/familiarity with Emergency;
- Technical knowledge in the following areas:
- Strengthening child protection systems;
- Strengthening partner capacity for protecting children against violence; in emergencies;
- Management and use of data and indicators in child protection.
- Language Proficiency Fluency in English and Myanmar is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
