Resource Development Officer - Events, Santa Monica, CA

Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:
International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility for rapid response to emergencies. International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.Under the supervision of the Director of Resource Development, the Resource Development Officer – Events is responsible for planning and producing all aspects of International Medical Corps' fundraising and donor cultivation/stewardship events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In conjunction with VP, Institutional Advancement and Director, Resource Development, creatively and flexibly create and manage International Medical Corps' events, with an emphasis on fundraising and introducing International Medical Corps to targeted sectors of the Los Angeles community;
  • In coordination with the Director, Resource Development, develop and manage Resource Development's annual events budget.
  • Coordinate all implementation aspects of the organization's major annual fundraising and cultivation events, which currently include two Women's Luncheons, and an Annual Awards Celebration, including coordinating all stakeholders, developing invitation lists, managing collateral, ensuring implementation of all day-of and related event activities and acknowledgement and follow-up.
  • Manage event fundraising goals, including developing and managing lists of fundraising targets, coordinating follow up across RD and other departments, and ensuring collection of pledges in a timely manner.
  • In coordination with the VP, Institutional Advancement and Director, Resource Development, liaise with the event committees as needed;
  • Coordinate and manage as needed outreach events that help to broaden International Medical Corps' base and introduce the organization to new communities;
  • Proactively develop a third-party volunteer fundraising strategy, including development of an online tool kit and cultivation of event hosts. Work directly with volunteers to plan and execute events as needed;
  • Develop, activate and implement an emergency response third-party fundraising plan to maximize volunteer event activities around emergencies;
  • In conjunction with the major gifts teams, develop and execute an annual series of major donor cultivation, fundraising and stewardship events, including major donor phone calls; salons; regional events; and other events as needed. Support the development of presentations, promotional materials, thank you notes and any other event planning responsibilities as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage colleagues and other staff to achieve event goals.Be an active member of the development team responsible for specific revenue goals and a specific level of activity;

Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required;
  • Minimum three to five years of top level, successful fundraising experience required;
  • Expert knowledge of fundraising techniques;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, and develop and maintain interpersonal relations;
  • Excellent ability to analyze information and situations and solve problems;
