Department Description:
The Office of Compliance and Internal Audit (OCIA) comprises the Compliance and Internal Audit functions. OCIA and the Office of General Counsel are the first responders to compliance issues providing objective assurance that FHI 360's business risks are being managed appropriately and that the organization's risk management and internal control framework is operating effectively. OCIA provides oversight & advice on regulatory compliance and conducts reviews of the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information as well as the systems established by the organization to ensure compliance with FHI 360 policies and procedures, client/donor policies and regulations, and US and host country laws and regulations.
Job Description:
This position supports OCIA by providing essential audit (65%) and operations (35%) support. With OCIA colleagues, conducts internal financial/operational/system audits and risk assessments both domestically and internationally. Writes and edits reports in English to communicate audit findings and other information to stakeholders. May facilitate work of external auditors, perform data analyses, conduct research and take on other projects as needed.
The successful candidate will be equally strong in English writing and analytics. The successful candidate will also enjoy working with others, be committed to customer service, motivated by high quality work, and passionate about FHI 360's mission. OCIA will request a writing sample and administer an Excel test.
OCIA is open to considering nontraditional candidates with strong writing skills who possess the required experience and skills.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Audit
- Conduct internal audit engagements. This involves working with colleagues to develop audit plans, meet with stakeholders, perform detailed testing, draft findings, communicate and negotiate with management, and follow-up on action points. This may also include delivering compliance training.
- Document processes for improving internal controls, operating efficiency, and the adequacy of records and recordkeeping.
- Using audit database, maintain documentation to support all audit observations and demonstrate diligence performed.
- May perform audit tasks in support of FHI 360's external annual audit.
- Audit Operations
- Write and edit reports and other written communication. This are critical to describing risk, supporting observations, developing feasible recommendations, and promoting improved compliance
- Coordinate third party audits of subrecipients
- Coordinate logistics and information flow of audit engagements worldwide. This includes developing appropriate communication strategies for remote stakeholders, keeping track of milestones, organizing information received and follow up on outstanding items.

Minimal Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, at least 3-5 years professional experience
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple, complex assignments (including organization, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting)
- At least two years of experience working in accounting, budgeting, audit, compliance or related functions.
- Experience using different financial, accounting or audit software
- Experience reviewing financial and administrative reports, such as budgets, transaction support, payroll, subcontracting, etc
- Experience understanding, researching and interpreting internal and external policy
- Familiarity with US government regulations, including OMB circulars
- Excellent writing skills. Ability to write concise, clear, and thorough reports in English, and edit other reports.
- Strong people skills. Positive and cooperative attitude

- International and nonprofit experience
- Fluency in other language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, other)
- Familiarity with USAID, foundation, corporate social responsibility, Global Fund, World Bank or other international funders
- Availability to travel internationally (less than 20%)
