Role Overview
A Principal Banker is sought to work in the Warsaw RO to play a leading role in originating, structuring and closing transactions in both the public and private sectors. The candidate is expected to travel within Poland and the region. This is a 9 month short-term contract with the possibility of further extension.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
The Principal Banker will be fully capable of working throughout the whole project life cycle. This will be accomplished through project screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation, monitoring and disposal (if applicable) of projects with the focus on infrastructure and the energy sector. This will also include:
  • The technical preparation, appraisal, and implementation of investment projects, and be familiar with the financial structuring of projects (both equity and debt).
  • Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of companies, production of financial projections and cash-flow models, companies valuations etc.
  • Participate in monitoring of existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports based on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review and other research.
  • Project processing and project team member or when appropriate as Operation Leader (including due diligence, deal structuring and negotiations, preparation of documentation, presentation at the Bank's operations committee leading to successful closing).
  • Lead business development in Poland, in the areas being the Bank's country strategic objectives (with the focus on infrastructure and the energy sector), in close co-operation with the Sector Teams.
  • An important component of the job will be to participate in the work of the Team and to ensure guidance of junior bankers and analysts.
  • Liaise as appropriate, with the support departments of the Bank in relation to projects
  • Participate in the monitoring of the Bank's existing project portfolio in Poland.
  • Assist the Bank's policy dialogue with relevant parties on selected issues/projects
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
  • Minimum of 7 years of investment bank/project finance experience, from a major international bank/financial institution.
  • Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education.
  • Knowledge of the financial aspects of investments.
  • Track record or proven potential for being a 'deal maker', project generator and Operation Leader.
  • Relevant expertise in lending to and/or investing in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Advanced financial skills with good knowledge of IFRS accounting.
  • Sound level of banking/lending skills with a strong credit background and demonstratable competence in structuring and executing transactions.
  • Sound understanding of business principles as well as regulatory issues in the energy sector.
  • Computer Literacy: Conversant with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis models.
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English.
It would represent an advantage if the candidate can also demonstrate:
  • Work experience in project finance in emerging markets, including Central / Eastern Europe, particulalry in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of Polish language
  • Experience in managing a project team.
